Two impressive new winners for Captain Crunch

First crop sire Captain Crunch added two new 2YO winners this past weekend in New Zealand and both were impressive.

At Addington Malakai demonstrated great fighting qualities to fend off the race favourite Party Time and win by a neck, with a further 12 lengths back to third.

The Robert and Jenna Dunn trainee rated a slick 1:56.5 in victory.

Bred by Syd and Shona Brown, Malakai was a $50,000 yearling purchase by Diamond Racing Stables Ltd.

While at Winton the Group placed Captainshavtime scored big against the older mares, winning by over four lengths.

Bred and raced by Murray Little, Captainshavtime is out of the 5 win Betterthancheddar mare Betterthanbrie.

It is likely that Captainshavtime’s next start will be in the Group 2 Bionic Chance 2YO Fillies Bracelet next week at Addington.

Meanwhile in Australia the smart filly Reds Ablaze made it two wins in succession when defeating the boys at Albion Park on Friday night.

She finished off strongly and held off her stablemate Great Achiever to win.

Reds Ablaze is raced by Kevin and Kay Seymour and is out of their Mr Feelgood mare Red Charmer.

Reds Ablaze will now target the Changeover 2YO Classic tomorrow night at Albion Park.
