The Miki Taker wins the Pearl

The Miki Taker has given his sire Always B Miki his first Group 1 winner when taking out the WA Pearl Classic at Gloucester Park last night.

The result was a trifecta for Alabar stallions with Floewriter (Sportswriter) finishing second, while Rock On Top (A Rocknroll Dance) came in third.

With Floewriter showing great gate speed to lead, The Miki Taker was forced to do all the work and face the breeze.

However he was simply too tough and he drew clear in the home straight to win by a length and a half.

The race was a triumph for Mike and Sharon Howie’s Copper Lodge who not only bred and race The Miki Taker but also bred the runner up as well!

The Miki Taker is the second foal of the Art Major mare Topless Beach Girl.

Always B Miki has now sired 11 Southern Hemisphere 2yo winners and currently sits fourth on both the Australian and New Zealand Sires Premierships.
