Oscar Bonavena wrote his name into the history books by winning the Group 1 2023 Dominion Handicap at Addington last Friday.
For his sire, Majestic Son, it was a record four Dominions in a row, after the legendary Sundees Son captured the previous three.
Oscar Bonavena was given a perfect drive by Mark Purdon and after a mid-race move, he used his brilliant speed late to win easily by two and a half lengths.
For Oscar Bonavena it was his 20th lifetime win and takes his earnings past $600,000. In doing so he becomes the fourth son of Majestic Son to do so, following Sundees Son, Majestic Man and Majestuoso.
Bred by Grassy Meadows Farm and Harry Webber, Oscar Bonavena is the 10th live foal out of the Yankee Jolter mare Now’s The Moment.
She has been a truly outstanding mare at stud producing 8 winners including Dr Hook $439,413, Moment Of Truth $269,772 and now Oscar Bonavena.
Once again Majestic Son is a clear leader on both the New Zealand and Australian Sires Premiership. He offers breeders tremendous value standing for $5,500 (incl GST) in Australia and $5,000 (plus GST) in New Zealand.
