Dominant Grand Prix day for Majestic Son

Majestic Son was the sire of the day at Addington’s Grand Prix meeting on Sunday.

A total of eight Group 1 races were contested and Majestic Son sired three of the winners!

The day kicked off with a six length win by Tyron Eros in the Ace Of Clubs. He hit the front at the top of home straight and exploded clear of his rivals.

Fellow Majestic Son gelding Bring On The Muscle made an early break, but recovered well to finish third.

Tyron Eros is out of the Love You mare Tyron’s Aphrodite and was bred and owned by Alan and Ian Neumann.

Sunnys Sister became just the third ever filly to claim the NZ Trotters Derby and NZ Trotters Oaks when she defeated the boys in the blue riband.

Given a great drive by John Dunn, Sunny Sister was able to weave through the field late and use her brilliant speed to win by almost three lengths.

Bred and raced by Colin and Nancy Hair, Sunnys Sister is a sister to champion Sundees Son.

She was the second leg of a Group 1 double for trainers Robert & Jenna Dunn.

In the final race of the day, Oscar Bonavena staked his claim for Older Trotter of the Year with victory in the New Zealand Trotting Free For All.

He was given a very patient drive by Mark Purdon, but the star trotter did what he had to and made up many lengths in the home straight to win.

It was a Majestic Son quinella with Majestic Man running a gallant second.

For Oscar Bonavena this was his 22nd lifetime win and takes his earnings to $679,458.

$346,972 of that have come this season, which makes him by far the richest trotter in New Zealand this year.

Majestic Son is once again a clear leader on the New Zealand Trotting Sires Premiership and currently only sits behind Bettor’s Delight and Art Major overall.

He is the dominant trotting force in the Southern Hemisphere.
