Taking The Miki wins Group 1 WA Oaks

Taking The Miki became the fourth Group 1 winner from Always B Miki’s debut crop when she took out the $150,000 WA Oaks at Gloucester Park last night.

Given a brilliant drive by Chris Voak, Taking The Miki showed all the fight in the world to get up and win in a photo finish over Little Darling (Art Major).

Bred by John and Trish Coffey’s Patrician Park, Taking The Miki is out of the Bettor’s Delight mare All American Dream.

She was sold at the 2020 APG Perth Sale for $26,000 to Jemma Hayman and has now won over $198,000!

The race was also a triumph for trainer Ross Olivieri who announced his retirement post-race.

Always B Miki has sired 19 stakes horses from his debut crop, including four Group 1 winners.

He is standing this season at a fee of $9,350 (incl GST) in Australia and $9,500 (plus GST) in New Zealand.
