Sundees Son elevated his status to even higher level after an epic win in the Group 1 Dominion Handicap at Addington.
The son of Majestic Son became the first horse in history to win three consecutive Dominion Handicaps.
He had to do it the tough way as well. After making an early move to the breeze to sit outside of second favourite Muscle Mountain, Sundees Son eventually worked his way to the front with 1800 metres to travel.
As he turned into the straight Muscle Mountain took aim and ran past him. However as only champions can do, Sundees Son fought back and claimed an historic victory.
Trained by Robert and Jenna Dunn, and driven by John Dunn, it was Sundees Son’s 34th win and takes his earnings to $1,401,248. His Group 1 tally now stands at 12 – equal with Take A Moment for the most ever by a New Zealand trotter.
Bred and raced by Colin and Nancy Hair, Sundees Son is out of their Sundon mare Stardon.
Majestic Son continues to set the standard amongst trotting sires in the Southern Hemisphere. He is standing for a fee of $5,500 (incl GST) in Australia and $5,000 (plus GST) in New Zealand.
