Storms Collide Leads All the Way in NSW Derby Heat, I Am The Storm Also Qualifies for Group 1 Final

In a thrilling display of speed and determination, Storms Collide proved too strong in his heat of the NSW Derby, leading all the way before digging deep to hold off fast-finishing challengers Go Miki and Fate Awaits – both sons of Always B Miki.

Spearing straight to the front from the mobile, Storms Collide dictated the tempo throughout, with driver Mark Pitt rating the colt to perfection. As they straightened for home, Go Miki loomed large on the outside, while Fate Awaits made his charge down the middle. But Storms Collide refused to be overrun, finding another gear to grip on for a brave victory.

Adding further merit to the night for his sire The Storm Inside, fellow son I Am The Storm also booked his spot in the Group 1 Final, showing grit to finish a determined second in his heat.

It’s an extraordinary achievement for The Storm Inside, who, from just 39 first-crop colts bred off a modest $2,500 service fee, will have two runners in the NSW Derby Final. Only Always B Miki—with three representatives—will have a greater presence in the decider.

With Storms Collide and I Am The Storm flying the flag for their sire, all eyes will be on the final as they chase Group 1 glory.
