Always B Miki came within a nose of siring a stakes double at Redcliffe on Saturday night.
Cheer Leader produced a stirring sprint to win the Group 3 Redcliffe Oaks, while Aardies Flash finished second by a nose in the Group 3 Redcliffe Derby.
Given a perfect drive by Grant Dixon, Cheer Leader flew home down the outside to defeat the multiple Group 1 winner Jewel Melody.
Cheer Leader was bred and is raced by Solid Earth Pty Ltd. She is the first foal of the 15 time winning Mach Three mare Cherish The Moment.
In the Derby Aardies Flash made all the running and was just pipped on the post by Rocknroll Hammer in 1:55.6.
Aardies Flash was bred in New Zealand by Grant Enterprises Ltd and is out of the Rocknroll Hanover mare Tatijana Bromac.
This makes him a full brother to the star filly Aardie’s Express.
It was a very good weekend for Always B Miki across Australia and New Zealand with metropolitan winners coming at Gloucester Park (Mister Smartee), Menangle (Chap Daddy) and Addington (Creed).
