He’s a fighter, he’s a Miki and he’s off to the Eureka!

The WA owned, Victorian trained and Tasmanian bred three year old Fighter Command added another string to his impressive bow at Hobart on Saturday night.

The big, gelded son of Always B Miki set a track record when he blitzed the field of three and four year olds in the $80,000 Beautide Stakes to book himself a ticket into the $2.1 million Eureka slot race on the 7th of September.

There has never been any doubting his ability since he debuted at Bendigo in September last year. Now with a resume of 11 starts for 8 wins, there is every likelihood that this Always B Miki sired gelding has a bright future ahead.

Fighter Command is the third foal of the $122,055 winning mare Spitfire Rose, a daughter of Jeremes Jet. Thus he has a 3 x 4 cross to Western Hanover as well as a double dose of Abercrombie blood (4 x 5).

Over the weekend Always B Miki added a further $60,000 to his three year old siring earnings in Australia, with winners also at Gloucester Park on Friday night and Albion Park on Saturday night.

Artful Miki, a three year old gelding from the Art Major mare Tremezzina sprinted powerfully once he saw clear air to brilliantly win the three year old race at Gloucester Park. This was his fourth win in just six career starts so he looks to be going places in a hurry in the West.

Kingman, also a three year old by Always B Miki, bred and owned by Mick Harvey, came with a swooping run to claim the top prize at Albion Park on Saturday night.

This was his sixth win in just 14 career starts and he now has $72,769 banked for his owner.

Both Artful Miki and Kingman are from Artsplace line mares, a combination that is working perfectly with Always B Miki.

Over in NZ on Friday night, Always B Miki also sired two more three year old winners.

  1. Adored Dreamer – a three year old filly from an unraced Christian Cullen mare. She was an easy winner at Addington in her first start for the season.
  2. Always A Porsche – this three year old gelding has now won three from 7 starts when victorious at Alexander Park.

Vincent, the royally bred son of Art Major continues to sire some nice winners on metropolitan tracks each weekend.

His three year old son Vincenzo is certainly building an impressive record in Tasmania. His easy win last Saturday night at Hobart was his sixth career win and lifted his prizemoney to just shy of $70,000.

Classic Mission, a four year old from a Bettors Delight mare joined in the Vincent winners when saluting at Melton on Saturday night.  This was his eighth career win and earnings now build to $78,523.

Art Major chimed in with three weekend winners – they being:

  1. Major Moth – won his fourteenth race from just 29 starts when successful at Albion Park for a new stable. His earnings now stand at $327,170.
  2. Betterthancash – a three year old gelding from a Betterthancheddar mare recorded his maiden win in 4 starts at Addington on Friday night.
  3. Artisan – the five year old mare from a daughter of Under Cover Lover brought up her ninth win and increased earnings to $154,556 when winning at Alexander Park.

Rock N Roll Heaven sired the equal fastest horse bred in Australia when his son Rocknroll Runa won the prestigious Sam McKee Memorial on Hambletonian Day at The Meadowlands track in New Jersey, USA.

This was his 32nd career win and his most important as the field was made up of the best Free For Allers currently racing in North America. His time of 1.47.3/5ths was the same that his Dad recorded in his Champion 3 year old season.

Bellezza Nera, a 6 year old gelding from an In The Pocket mare was a nice winner at Gloucester Park when clocking 1.56.7 in his ninth career win – taking his earnings over the $100,000 mark.

Another weekend of winners and more of the same for the doyen of Trotting Sires Majestic Son.

  1. Ilsas Son – the eight year old gelding out of a Sundon mare recorded his sixth career win at Alexander Park on Friday night.
  2. Harry Stamper – two wins in succession at Melton for this five year old gelding, also from a Sundon mare. Thirty starts for twelve wins and $184,693 tells us that this gelding is very smart with more wins in store.
