Cognati provided her sire Majestic Son with back to back wins in the Group 1 Redwood Classic with victory yesterday at Maryborough.
Beginning brilliantly from the stand, she was able to shoot through and find the lead. From there driver Greg Sugars was able to control the race and win by almost three lengths.
They had to survive a brief scare with the all clear delayed due to an incident at the top of the home straight when Cognati veered out into Rockinwithattitude which caused that filly to gallop.
However all clear was declared and Cognati is now a Group 1 winner.
Bred by David Scott, Cognati is out of the outstanding producer Elusive Charm (CR Commando).
She was purchased by Greg Sugars for $26,000 at the 2021 APTS and has now won $48,305 from 8 starts.
For Majestic Son it was his third winner of the time honoured Redwood Classic with his previous winners being Plymouth Chubb (2021) and Daenerys Targaryen (2013).
He is now just one winner behind the great Sundon who sired four winners.
Majestic Son stands for a fee of $5,500 (incl GST) in Australia and $5,000 (plus GST) in New Zealand – multiple mare discounts are available.
