Chase Auckland – Thanks for the memories

We’re incredibly sad that Chase Auckland has had to be retired – but what a thrill racing him has been.

He’s brought us so many great moments – winning the NZ Sires’ Stakes 3yo Final on NZ Cup Day, winning his first 7 starts on end on his way to being NZ 3yo Pacer of the Year, winning the NZ free-for-all and his last-to-first victory at Cambridge.

We raced in the Interdominion Final and were unlucky 4ths in both the Miracle Mile and the New Zealand Cup.

We are extremely grateful to Ivan and Ann Behrnes who have done a truly wonderful job of forming and managing the syndicate.

And what a fabulous group the syndicate that own Chase Auckland are. They planned their holidays around him racing and proudly supported him in numbers wherever he raced throughout Australasia.

We are greatly indebted to Tony and Anne Parker and their family for paying Chase the respect of allowing him to retire back at their farm where he was raised.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Mark and Natalie for selecting and nurturing Chase into the horse he became, to Tim on many great drives (your reaction when you won the NZffa was one of our biggest thrills), to Hayden and the teams at All Stars and Cullen Racing on looking after Chase and getting him back to the races – and to Lindsay and Sarah at Prebbleton Vets, Denis at Camden Equine Hospital, Barbara at Matamata Vets, Josh at Margaret Park and Sharon at Chevalier Farm for their treatment and rehabilitation care.

It could have been so much more but it’s been a heck of a ride!
