2024 Nutrien Sydney First Season Sires

The progeny of Bettor’s Wish will feature prominently at the Nutrien Sydney Yearling sale with six lots on offer.

Bettor’s Wish: The leading US first season sire in 2023 (average earnings per foal)

Lot 24 is the first live colt from the Christian Cullen mare Macey Cullen.

We all know the success of the Bettor’s Delight / Christian Cullen cross, so this colt is bred on an extension of that cross being by Bettor’s Wish.

Macey Cullen’s page is extremely impressive with her being  a full or half sister to 7 winners including Mighty Cullen $643,448, Likmesiah $427,965, Mister Presley $259,444 and the dam of Himself $326,931.

So here you have a good looking colt bred on a cross that will work from a deep New Zealand family.

Lot 42 is a Bettor’s Wish colt from the famed NSW nursery Medowie Lodge.

This colt comes from the fine producing mare Modern Babe and is thus a half brother to the Group 2 winning juvenile filly Silk Cloud 1:52.4 – $234,065 and the $100,000+ earner Ultra Bliss 1:53.6.

The family is a strong one with the likes of Step Outside $237,029, Son Of Fergie $323,605, Atlastalone $210,147 littering the page.

Lot 60 is the second Bettor’s Wish offering from Medowie Lodge.

This time it is a filly from the quick Badlands Hanover mare Our Expressive Art 1:56.5.

The third dam of this filly is Venetian Star who’s descendants include Anvils Star $470,115, Ima Rocket Star $411,929 and the current West Australian star Lavra Joe $615,080.

The first two dams of this filly are by Badlands Hanover (Western Hanover) and Artsplace, so there is a really nice mix of blood for Bettor’s Wish.

Lot 110 is a stunning Bettor’s Wish from the famed Success Stud’s best family.

The Grace Robinson family has been one of the most prolific families in recent times producing the likes of Eye Keep Smiling 1:49.9 (Group 1 NSW Breeders Challenge Final), Two Eye See $306,703 (Group 1 Seymour Nursery), Eye See Diamonds $284,875 (Group 1 NSW Breeders Challenge 4YOM Final), Hardhitter $175,430 (Group 1 NSW Breeders Challenge 2YOC&G Final), Rockin Marty $322,616 (Group 1 NSW Breeders Challenge 3YOC&G Final) and Eye Can Run (Group 1 NSW Regional Championship Final).

Add in the fact that this filly is the first foal from a winning Somebeachsomewhere mare and you have a recipe for Success.

Lot 151 is a Bettor’s Wish filly from the winning American Ideal mare Emerging Talent 1:55.1.

Bettor’s Wish and American Ideal are related, so this yearling presents a Rasmussen factor.

More importantly the third dam of this filly is the absolute blue hen Alldatglittersisgold – three times named Australia Broodmare of the Year.

At stud she has produced 9 winners which includes 5 $100,000+ earners – Bling It On $1,882,957, Baby Bling $854,490, Bletchley Park $418,028, The Code Breaker $178,808 and Blingittothemax $117,944.

This is an amazing family and there is every reason this filly could be the next star from it.
