Smooth win for son of Ultimate Machete

Smooth Machete became the first stakes winner for Ultimate Machete when scoring an impressive victory in the Group 3 Dandy Patch final at Hobart on Saturday night.

He was forced to do all the work from the breeze, but he was simply a class above his rivals.

He powered to the front in the third quarter and shot clear to win by over three lengths. Vincenzo (Vincent) finished second.

Bred by Kelly and Mark Reggett, Smooth Machete has now won 3 times from 5 starts and takes his earnings to $56,180.

He is out of their 6 time winning McArdle mare Sparkling.

Ultimate Machete has now sired 10 winners from his debut crop including 5 who have won at metropolitan level – Miss Hepburn (Group 1 placed), Grand CouteauBazaar PackageMiss Idaho and Smooth Machete.

While in New Zealand he is the sire of the second richest two year old pacing filly this season – Ultimate Racy Girl, who has been placed three times at stakes level.
