Sherlock too strong again

For the second start in a row Sherlock has defeated the best three year olds in New Zealand.

Last night at Alexandra Park he took out the first heat of the New Zealand Sires Stakes in impressive fashion.

Sherlock was forced to do it the hard way after making a mid race move to the breeze, however he was still good enough to hold off Merlin (Art Major) and score by a length.

This was the fifth win of his career and takes his earnings to $112,320.

Bred by Spreydon Lodge, Sherlock is from the debut crop of Vincent and is raced by Jean Feiss.

Sherlock was one half of a double for Vincent with Twist Little Girl winning earlier on the program.
