Art Major’s Legacy Shines Bright Across Australasia

Art Major’s impact on Australasian harness racing continues to reach new heights, with his progeny once again dominating feature races across both sides of the Tasman over the weekend.

In New Zealand, Got The Chocolates reaffirmed his standing as one of the most exciting three-year-olds in the country with a commanding victory in the Group 1 3YO Flying Stakes at Addington. The classy colt proved too strong for Marketplace and Rubira, adding a second Group 1 triumph to his growing résumé.

Adding further gloss to Art Major’s remarkable record, Wat Next became his 239th Southern Hemisphere stakes winner when she produced a dazzling display to capture the $200,000 NZB Harness Millions 2YO Fillies Final. The juvenile filly showed both brilliance and determination, qualities that continue to define Art Major’s daughters around the globe.

Across the Tasman, the story was much the same. At Melton, the talented Fox Dan extended his purple patch of form by winning his heat of the Victorian Derby. Despite facing the breeze for much of the long journey, Fox Dan showed incredible grit to prevail by a neck.

Meanwhile, at Menangle, Art Major was again front and centre as Betterthancash edged out Hi Mynameisjeff to give their sire a quinella in the Listed Kevin Robinson FFA. Betterthancash’s winning mile rate of 1:49.6 not only sealed the quinella but also made him Art Major’s latest sub-1:50 performer, a testament to the enduring speed and stamina found in the bloodline.

From precocious two-year-olds to hardened open-class stars, Art Major’s influence continues to shape the landscape of modern harness racing.

Now is the time to breed to a champion.
With his record continuing to grow and his progeny performing at the highest level week after week, Art Major remains an elite choice for breeders.

Breed to Art Major — and be part of the legacy.
