APG Sydney Yearling Sale – First Season Sires

2024 marks an exciting milestone for our freshman sires Bettor’s Wish, Ride High and Ultimate Sniper who will have their first Southern Hemisphere yearlings offered for sale.

Bettor’s Wish was the first male pacer since Art Major to win Dan Patch awards as both a three year old and a four year old.

His debut crop of two year olds raced in the USA last season and his average earnings per foal of $31,064 was the highest since Somebeachsomewhere’s first crop raced in 2001.

His Southern Hemisphere yearlings have been selling extremely well up to $100,000 to date.

Ride High was the speed horse of his generation. He blistering speed was something that few horses could match.

His 1:49 track record performance at Bendigo was something to behold.

We are hearing very good reports on his yearlings which have been broken in to date.

Ultimate Sniper was simply the dominant colt of his year. He did things that very few horses have done in the history of our great sport.

The first crop yearlings of the super star racehorse Bettors Wish are going to be quite limited at Sales around Australia this year.

So here in Lot 304 at the Sydney APG Sale on 25th Feb is a unique opportunity to buy a filly you will never regret.

Bettors Wish is the only son of champion sire Bettors Delight to take home Trophies as both the 3 Year Old Pacing Colt of the Year and Aged Pacer (as a 4 year old) of the Year in USA – something we love to see in a stallion in the Southern Hemisphere.

This filly is strong and eye catching with a temperament and attitude you will love. Take a look at the pedigree page and you will love her a whole lot more.

This is the supreme fillies family pedigree – Under Cover Lover 1.51.8, Bettor Cover Lover 1.53.8, Amore Vita 1.50.4 and the list goes on.

Speaking of lists, this filly should be right at the top of your fillies shopping list.

Lot 334 in the Sydney APG Sale is a very handsome colt by the speed machine Ride High from the 100% producing Presidential Ball mare Inaugural Ball.

There is little doubt that Ride High is one of the most exciting horses to set foot on an Australian racetrack this Century.

He was only ever defeated twice in his relatively short 18 start career. Ride High raced against one of the strongest group of three year olds in Australia over the past 20 years and was defeated only once – in the VicBred Final. As a three year old he twice paced his final quarter in 25.7.

Inaugural Ball has the perfect 4 for 4 record of foals to winners with those progeny earning almost $350,000 between them.  This colt has a 2 X 4 cross to the former Champion USA two and three year old Presidential Ball, who was both handsome and fast.

Maybe there is lots of Presidential Ball in this colt – he sure is handsome and hopefully fast as well. As a Bonus he is both Vicbred and NSW Breeders Challenge eligible.

Ultimate Sniper has a true superstar on the racetrack and has impeccable breeding being by Bettor’s Delight from the NZ Broodmare of the Year Reality Check.

Lot 335 is a filly from a broodmare who has excelled at stud.

Incendio was Group 1 placed and so far has produced four black type winners including Krafty Bart 1:52.1 – $105,150 and Rolling Fire 1:55.8 – $114,355.

Rolling Fire is one of the up and coming stars of WA pacing and has immense upside. His last start as a three year old resulted in a fourth in the WA Derby and this year he resumed with an impressive win at Gloucester Park.

This is a family deep in black type performers.

Lot 368 is a brown/black colt from the In The Pocket mare Our Pocketfullofdreams, who has already produced nine winners – could this colt be her tenth?

Our Pocketfullofdreams’ best performer has been the Bettor’s Delight mare Bettor Dreams $186,952 (2nd WA Oaks).

So this colt is bred very similarly given he is by one of Bettor’s Delight’s best sons in Ultimate Sniper.

This colt is from the famed Black Watch family, so you know the pedigree is dripping with star performers.

Lot 368 is a must inspect.

Over the past twenty to thirty years the Stud names of Lombo and Soho have been associated with many outstanding Standardbred athletes.

So Lot 372, a filly by Bettors Wish from Portly Mach, to be offered at the Sydney Sale on 25th February has a sprinkling of those brilliant Lombo and Soho bred fillies running through the pedigree.

Now when you add that this filly is sired by arguable the best performed son of Bettor’s Delight in the Northern Hemisphere, you are talking about a filly you need to save some serious dollars for.

Bettors Wish mixed racing and breeding in USA in the 2020 season and the first  of those resulting progeny raced with distinction on North American tracks last season.  He finished third on the USA 2-Year-Old Sires List based on average earnings per foal.

There are no weak links in this Fillies breeding – the first three dam sires are Mach Three, Perfect Art and Classic Garry.

Don’t forget she is a post Christmas foal so has some maturing to do.
