Alabar’s Weekend of Winners

Always B Miki was described on his retirement by his legendary trainer Jimmy Takter as “This could be the greatest horse who ever lived.”

Well, that subject could be debated for hours but we do know that over recent weekends Always B Miki has been starring in his role of siring metropolitan track winners.

There were another four in the weekend just passed headed by the three year old filly Cheeky Kiss at Menangle.

The Matt Rue trained and driven filly was having just her fourth lifetime start in the $30,000 Final for the NSW Bred 3 year olds (colts and fillies). She brought up win number four in fighting style taking her earnings to $31,860, with many more dollars to be added to that.

Cheeky Kiss is the fourth foal of the Modern Art mare Allnight Kiss and was bred by Brooklyn Lodge at Bathurst.  She is another talented Always B Miki filly with that 3 X 3 cross to Artsplace.

The last race at Albion Park on Saturday night also produced an impressive Always B Miki winner for trainer / driver Chantal Turpin. The Janitor, a three year old gelding, sat parked for the trip but found the line a comfortable winner in 1.53.6.  This gelding, from a Badlands Hanover mare, now has the impressive statistics of 7 starts for 4 wins – all at Albion Park.

Mikicool, a 4 year old gelding by Always B Miki also raced in the breeze at Globe Derby Park on Saturday night to record his seventh win in 15 starts.  He is from a Christian Cullen mare.

Finally, Harrison John, a three year old from a Bettors Delight mare brought up his third win in NZ this season when winning on Sapling Stakes Day at Ashburton in 1.54.6.

Bred by Breckon Farms, Harrison John has now won over $50,000 from 7 starts this season.

Always B Miki is currently in third position on New Zealand 3YO Sires Premiership behind only Bettors Delight and Captaintreacherous.

The combination of Rock N Roll Heaven over Mach Three mares has been a rewarding one and it may have unearthed another smart pacer in Southside Of Heaven.  The four year old daughter of Rock N Roll Heaven brought up win number three in three starts at Addington on Thursday night.

Rock N Roll Heaven sired a winning double on Saturday night when Rocknroll Walla (from a Holmes Hanover mare) won his third race for the season at Melton and Hezrockinroyalty put together his third win in succession at Globe Derby Park for trainer / reinsman Ryan Hryhorec.

This three year old gelding from a Lincoln Royal (by Mach Three) mare has now won 6 of his 13 starts.

The doyen of Trotting Sires Majestic Son didn’t let the Alabar Sires Roster down either, siring winners at Melton on Saturday night and Ashburton on Sunday.

Son Of A Sun recorded his fifth victory when successful for trainer / driver Kerryn Manning.  Then Majestic Whisper, from a mare by Chairmanoftheboard, recorded his third career win at Ashburton.

If Art Major was human, he would have received a knighthood by now for his services to Harness Racing.

The handsome son of Artsplace sired six winners for the weekend starting with a double at Addington last Thursday evening.

Ragazzo Major, from a Falcon Seelster mare, posted his maiden win in 2 career starts whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Heisenberg recorded his thirteenth win and upped his earnings to $341,366.

His Australian winners were:

  1. My Ultimate Romeo (from a Christian Cullen mare) at Launceston on Friday night.
  2. Little Bliss (from a Blissfull Hall mare) at Menangle and taking her earnings past the $250,000 mark.
  3. Hi Manameisjeff (from a Bettors Delight mare) at Menangle. This was win number 19 for him and takes his earnings to over $300,000.
  4. Buzz Bomb (from a Bettors Delight mare) at Globe Derby Park. This posted win number four for the three year old colt.
