Art Major, Always B Miki and Rock N Roll Heaven all sired winners of $100,000 races throughout the Southern Hemisphere last weekend.
In NSW on Friday afternoon and evening there were two separate Listed $100,000 Regional Championship Finals conducted – one at Wagga and one at Newcastle.
The Rock N Roll Heaven sired mare Brooklyns Best snared the Wagga victory whilst a couple of hours later the Always B Miki five year old gelding The Cid rallied late to claim a sweet victory for his connections.
Meanwhile across the Tasman the $100,000 Group One NZ Welcome Stakes for two year olds was conducted at Addington on Friday evening.
This race has been won by some superstars in the past including Christian Cullen and Courage Under Fire.
It is definitely too early at this stage to put this years winner in such elite company. However Got The Chocolates, a gelding by Art Major, couldn’t have been any more impressive in his 10 metre win over the Captain Crunch gelding Malakai and the Always B Miki two year old Rubira.
Got The Chocolates, who was sold at last year’s Yearling Sales as Treadstone, certainly has a pedigree that suggests some special racetrack success.
His Dam is the Bettors Delight daughter of the former champion female Kates First 1.57.2 and of course she was the older half sister to the champion Christian Cullen.

Art Major enjoyed more sweet success at Albion Park on Saturday night by siring both the Colt and Filly winners of the QLD Breeders Classic three year old finals. Both were trained and driven by the wife / husband combination of Chantal Turpin and Pete McMullen.
Dele Row, a $30,000 yearling purchase is turning into quite a bargain for his owner Ross Patrick as his earnings are now just shy of $100,000. He was an easy winner of the colts division after roaring home in 26.8.
Ross also bred and owns the Filly winner Rylee Rhayne Bow who is from the Somebeachsomewhere mare Argyle Beach. This daughter of Art Major has now won $151,436 in just 15 career starts.
Art Major topped off his weekend with the win of the mare Little Bliss at Menangle on Saturday night. This seven year old mare has now banked $241,670 for her breeder and owner Ron Littler.
Always B Miki continued on his merry way of siring impressive winners on both sides of the Tasman with three winners in New Zealand and two in Australia.
The unusually named gelding The Cid, from the Mach Three mare The Waratah, advanced his earnings to almost $100,000 when he steamed home late to collect the Trophy in the $100,000 TAB Regional Championship Final at Newcastle on Friday night.
Between Addington and Alexandra Park on Friday night, Always B Miki sired three winners:
- Mikis Courage – Three year old gelding from a Courage Under Fire mare . This is second win from 4 starts this year.
- Busload Of Faith – Four year old gelding from a Mach Three mare. One start this season for 1 win.
- Always a Porsche – Three year old gelding from a Road Machine mare. His maiden win from 3 career starts .
Always B Miki then sired the Globe Derby Park winner on Saturday night in the Geoff Easom bred and owned Honeybun (from an Art Major mare).
The ever-reliable sire Rock N Roll Heaven is once again showing up as a leading Sire on the Australian Sires List, currently sitting in sixth position with 127 individual winners for the season.
His eight year old daughter Brooklyns Best collected a deserved win on Friday afternoon at Wagga when the David Druitt owned and trained mare won the TAB Regional Championship Final. She was a $7,000 purchase by David at the 2017 Sydney Yearling Sale and has given him many highlights amongst the now $196,411 bankroll.
She is another of the outstanding winners sired by Rock N Roll Heaven from either an Art Major or Perfect Art mare.
Rock N Roll Heaven also sired the winners:
Rockmyster at Gloucester Park to take his earnings to $103,300.
Lolita at Globe Derby Park to bring up win number 7 from just 15 starts.
The Mister Top of the Tree of trotting sires Majestic Son also sired two metropolitan winners over the weekend – Buffy Northstains with back to back wins at Addington and the five year old Gus with career win number 8 at Albion Park.
