Majestic Son has etched his name further into Inter Dominion history, with his outstanding son Gus producing a brilliant performance to capture the 2026 Inter Dominion Trotting Championship.
Bred by Nathan Williamson, Gus is a beautifully bred son of Majestic Son from the Monarchy mare Kylie Ree, and his latest Group 1 triumph further cements his status among Australasia’s elite trotters.
Owned by Ross Patrick, trained by Chantal Turpin and expertly driven by Pete McMullen, Gus delivered when it mattered most. McMullen gave the talented gelding a patient, confident drive, allowing the race to unfold before producing him at precisely the right time. Gus responded with his trademark determination, powering home to secure one of harness racing’s most coveted prizes.
The result was also a landmark moment for sire Majestic Son, who celebrated an extraordinary quinella in the Inter Dominion Final as another of his sons, Gotfeelingsyouknow, chased home the winner in second. It was a fitting reward for one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most influential trotting stallions.
The victory was Gus’ third triumph at the highest level and lifted his career earnings to $910,086, adding another significant chapter to an already outstanding résumé.
For Majestic Son, the success marked his second Inter Dominion Trotting Championship winner, following Winterfell’s memorable victory in 2019. To now produce both the winner and runner-up in the sport’s greatest trotting series is another remarkable achievement for the champion sire and further underlines the consistency and class he continues to pass on to his progeny.
