Betterzippit, bred by Alabar NZ, took out the inaugural running of the $1 million Nullarbor at Gloucester Park.
Driven to perfection by Cam Hart, Betterzippit shot to the front midrace and then held off Spirit Of St Louis to cross the line first.
Betterzippit was an above average performer in New Zealand for Sean McCaffrey winning or placing in 11 of 28 starts, however he has gone to another level for new owner Boots Properties Racing and trainer Jason Grimson.
Since joining the powerful NSW stable, Betterzippit has won 6 times from 7 starts, gone 1:48.6 and now won $576,500.
The most remarkable part of this story however is the fact that Betterzippit was purchased from the Alabar NZ draft at 2018 All Age and Weanling sale for just $1,500!
This year Alabar will offer 52 quality weanlings at the 2023 NZB National Weanling Sale.
The draft will include weanlings by Always B Miki, Art Major, Captain Crunch, Lazarus, Majestic Son, Rock N Roll Heaven, Vincent plus the debut crops of Elite Stride and Ultimate Sniper.
